Commercial Real Estate- An Alternative way to Invest

Apr 8, 2019

By BuildingBITs

For 80 years private companies had not been able to solicit investments from general public; and individuals had not been able to invest unless they were accredited investors. Everything changed in April of 2012, when President Barack Obama signed the Jumpstart Our Business Startups (JOBS) Act into law. Also known as “the crowdfunding bill”, the JOBS Act removed the ban on general solicitation that prevents entrepreneurs from publicizing that they’re raising money. And once the Securities and Exchange Commission finalized the regulations in early 2013 the swift growth of crowdfunding industry had begun.

Our Self-Directed IRA allows you to invest in what you want, when you want. The investment possibilities are endless.

Since then, a handful of innovative companies have found ways to offer access to the benefits of commercial real estate. Real Estate Investment Trust, or REITs, are common place now allowing every day investors a first step toward actual ownership. Companies such as BuildingBITs.com is one of the first SEC approved crowdfunding companies to allow non-accredited investors to purchase an equity interest in a fractional share in the economic rights of a wholly owned subsidiary that holds title to a specific property the investor chooses.  Investors can invest with investments as low as $100.

The demand for more control and stable investments is proving to be a popular and solid alternative to traditional yield savings or CD/Bond products. As a result companies are now offering full transparency, educating investors of the risks and offering properties that address a specific portfolio objective (preservation, liquidity, aggressive growth etc.) Sites like BuildingBITS.com and others are creating niche property offerings which have the potential to reshape self-directed account portfolio strategies.

Commercial Real Estate as an investment strategy will only continue to expand into the non-accredited investor space and the leaders are emerging quickly. Are you ready?
